Hello, my name is Dar West and I thank you for stopping at my web site.  I have been interested in painting and sketching since I was old enough to hold a crayon, but raising two daughters and pursuing a career in the corporate world left me precious little time to indulge in this interest.

Upon retirement seven years ago I moved to the village of Maxwell where I live in a 50 acre hardwood bush - behind our house is a small pioneer log cabin that had previously been used as a barn. With a little TLC it has become first the perfect studio, and now more recently, our new B&B. Since moving to Maxwell I have immersed myself in developing my talent. I want to share with others the wonders of nature and the beautiful vistas of the Escarpment and Georgian Bay that surround us. I love nature and I try to look beyond the obvious and create unique paintings that depict our beautiful area. I work in oils using vibrant colours and lines of movement to draw the viewer into the painting. Recently I spent a semester in Fine Arts at Fleming College. I am now back at my studio working full time to create a new series of work. It is my hope that you will find in one of my paintings the memory of a peaceful and beautiful location that you can revisit again and again after you return to your busy life in another place......
